Fantastic Lawyers, formerly WardBlawg, is a trusted AI powered legal directory and publishing platform founded in 2010 by former lawyer and legal technologist Gav Ward, with the much appreciated help of legends like Marcin Durlak and Koren Hoskins, the AI legal marketing experts at MLT Digital where Gav is a Director and a growing number of evangelists like equity partner and philanthropist Tom Platts and Professor Richard Susskind.

Our 70 to 100 percent rating scale considers a balanced set of trust signals to highlight genuine quality, not pay to play. Lawyers featured on Fantastic Lawyers are selected using our independent Fantastic Lawyer Rating (FLR™) – a 70–100% rating scale designed to highlight genuine quality, not pay-to-play. The FLR™ considers a balanced set of verifiable trust signals including client reviews, market reputation, firm history, lawyer experience, recognised accreditations or awards, publications, and overall profile strength. Some lawyer and firm listings display an FLR™, while others do not, depending on available data and assessment status. A small number of paid profiles exist on the site and will be clearly marked as Featured. Paid placement does not influence core ratings or editorial rankings, ensuring our listings remain transparent, independent, and consumer-focused.

About the Founder

Gavin Ward LLB Hons Dip LP, Solicitor non practising, is a former commercial lawyer who qualified in the UK in 2010. He launched WardBlawg in June 2010 to help lawyers publish blogs and share expertise online. He worked on legal workflows at LawWare, then served as Operations Director at Moore Legal Technology. He is now Director at MLT Digital (which was rebranded from Moore Legal Technology), focusing on AI and SEO for law firms. He also founded and helps run Five Fantastic Lawyers and the Five Fantastic network, and contributes to Accident Claims Blawg and Climate Change Blawg. He previously tutored private law at the University of Glasgow and commercial law at the University of Strathclyde.
