Shay Thananjeyan, Investments Legal Counsel
Description
As a Legal Counsel at UniSuper, one of Australia's largest superannuation funds with over $135 billion funds under management, I advise the equities, property and private markets teams on various transactions and legal issues. I also collaborate with the ESG team to provide legal guidance on ESG risks and opportunities, aligning with UniSuper's commitment to sustainable investing.
I have a background in corporate finance law, having worked at Australia’s corporate regulator, ASIC, for 1.5 years, where I reviewed fundraising and public M&A transactions, and applied the relevant regulatory frameworks and guidelines.
I hold a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Melbourne, and I am currently pursuing a Graduate Diploma of Laws in Digital Law and Technological Innovation. I have an interest in AI and technology in the financial services industry as well as the legal industry, and I am keen to learn how these innovations can enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of legal services. I also have a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting and Finance, which gives me a solid foundation in financial analysis and reporting.
