Dee Ann Ferguson, BSN, RNC-OB, CEFM, LNCC | Legal Nurse Consultant
Description
(United States) Legal Nurse Consultant
"I am a Legal Nurse Consultant (LNC)/RN with over 28 years of experience working in in-house Defense or Plaintiff law firms, with insurance companies, with personal injury claims, with health care providers, State board allegations, and having my own LNC business. My vast clinical experiences include high-risk obstetrics, being a risk manager at a large hospital system, and providing direct patient care in various types of hospital units. Extensive experience in analyzing and identifying a case for merit, standard of care concerns/claims, causation, and damages in medical malpractice litigation.
Determine the types of experts needed for case review regarding SOC, causation, and damages. Qualify the experts according to state statutes and their specific credentials. Speak with experts to obtain their opinions then draft them for disclosure. I affirm any potential non-parties at fault.
Based on my knowledge of the medical and legal system, upon my full analysis and review of the medical records, I prepare a medical chronology; a summary outlying the pertinent health and social information, then identify missing medical records. Review and address legal pleading information within the medical summary, medical chronology, and expert opinions. Provide a list of pertinent healthcare providers and determine if their medical records are necessary to be obtained.
Attend depositions and draft questions for Attorney use when needed. I continually perform medical research to substantiate the standard of care, causation, and damages."
