About Sarah Van Voorhis

Sarah Van Voorhis is a founding partner of Van Voorhis & Sosna LLP and one of the Bay Area’s most respected divorce and family law attorneys. Practicing exclusively in family law since 2001, Sarah is Certified as a Specialist in Family Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization—an achievement held by only a small percentage of attorneys statewide. She represents clients in complex marital and domestic partner dissolutions, custody disputes, parentage matters, spousal and child support, and move-away cases.

Sarah earned her J.D. from Stanford Law School and B.A. in Psychology from the University of Utah, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa. Before co-founding her firm, she gained significant litigation experience at leading Bay Area family law practices. Her approach combines strategic advocacy, deep technical expertise, and empathy for families navigating life-changing transitions. Clients and peers alike recognize her for her ability to balance clarity, professionalism, and compassion in even the most high-conflict cases.
