Ross Yuill is the Managing Partner of The Glasgow Law Practice and a highly experienced Solicitor Advocate with a practice focused on serious crime, private and regulatory prosecutions, Fatal Accident Inquiries (FAIs), and professional misconduct. With more than two decades in criminal litigation, Ross is regularly instructed to represent individuals and professionals in complex court and tribunal proceedings across Scotland.
Experience & Approach
Ross joined the firm in 2001 as a trainee solicitor, became a Partner in 2007, qualified as a Solicitor Advocate in 2014, and was appointed Managing Partner in 2023. Over that period, he has conducted thousands of criminal cases, acting for clients across the full spectrum of allegations—from road traffic matters through to the most serious charges prosecuted in the High Court of Justiciary.
In addition to serious crime work, Ross is known for his expertise in road traffic prosecutions (including fatal cases), professional discipline, and sporting disciplinary hearings. He has extensive experience in Fatal Accident Inquiry work, representing bereaved families as well as professional witnesses who may be parties to the FAI process.
Ross also has a keen interest in child law, appearing regularly in Children’s Hearings and at Children’s Referrals. He is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Trauma Informed lawyer, bringing a client-centred and sensitive approach to cases involving high stress, risk, and vulnerability.
Leadership & Modernisation
As Managing Partner, Ross has responsibility for day-to-day operations and plays a key role in delivering the firm’s strategic growth plan. He has been at the forefront of modernisation within the practice—helping drive the firm’s rebrand in 2012 and supporting more recent developments in legal technology to improve outcomes for clients and workflow for staff. He also holds senior responsibility for client relations and cashroom compliance as part of the firm’s leadership team.
