About Paul J. Sweeney

Paul J. Sweeney is one of Boston’s most experienced divorce and family law attorneys, with more than 35 years of practice dedicated to helping families navigate complex legal matters with integrity and care. Before becoming an attorney, Paul served as Assistant Register of Probate at the Norfolk Probate Court, giving him a rare, inside perspective on how Massachusetts family courts operate. His extensive courtroom experience and deep understanding of probate procedures allow him to guide clients efficiently through even the most challenging cases.

Paul earned his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University (1984) and later completed a Master’s in Tax Law from Boston University (1988) — an academic foundation that gives him a unique edge in cases involving business valuations, complex property division, and tax-sensitive divorce settlements. In addition to his Massachusetts practice, Paul is a certified Florida mediator who helps couples resolve disputes collaboratively and cost-effectively without resorting to litigation.
