Mark Ralston is Head of the Civil Litigation Department and a Law Society of Scotland accredited specialist in guardianships and incapacity law. He has been recognised as a specialist in mental disability and incapacity law since 2015 and is widely respected for his expertise in protecting the interests of vulnerable individuals and their families.

What Mark Does

Mark specialises in guardianship applications and the management of the affairs of adults with incapacity. He advises clients at every stage of the court process, from preparing and presenting guardianship applications to guiding appointed guardians on their ongoing duties, responsibilities and legal obligations.

Alongside guardianship work, Mark assists clients with wills and Powers of Attorney, estate administration, employment advice and contract law, offering practical and clear legal support across a broad range of private client and civil matters.

Experience and Background

Mark has been a practising solicitor since 1991 and joined Wright & Crawford as a partner in 2004. After an extensive career in dispute resolution, he chose to focus his practice on incapacity and guardianship law, an area requiring both technical precision and sensitivity.

He is also a former Senior Tutor and Lecturer in Advanced Civil Litigation on the Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow, reflecting his depth of knowledge and commitment to legal education.
